Middle Years Programme
A Framework for Life
Rooted in the IB philosophy, the inquiry-led Middle Years Programme (MYP) for ages 11-16 challenges students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. It empowers them to explore issues that matter on local, national, and global scales, fostering 'student agency' and responsibility for their own learning.
Approaches To Learning
Developing skills for critical thinking, communication, and self-management.
Approaches To Teaching
Guiding students with inquiry-based methods and real-world contexts.
Global Contexts
Connecting learning to shared human experiences and global challenges.
Concepts
Building deep understanding through big, transferable ideas.
Six Global Contexts
These contexts act as lenses through which students inquire into subject knowledge, making learning both relevant and impactful.
Identities & Relationships
Orientation in Space and Time
Personal & Cultural Expression
Scientific & Technical Innovation
Globalization & Sustainability
Fairness & Development
Inquiry-Based Learning Across Eight Subjects
Each unit is framed by a Statement of Inquiry, connecting knowledge to a global context and challenging students to think critically. Continuous reflection ensures students not only grasp what they are learning, but also how their thinking is evolving.
Language Acquisition

Key MYP Experiences
Service as Action
Starting in Grade 6, students explore real-world issues through community service, advocacy, and research, developing an awareness of community needs.
Community Project
In Grade 8, students consolidate their service experiences into a sustained, meaningful project, acting as true changemakers in their community.
Personal Project
In Grades 9-10, students undertake a significant, self-driven inquiry, channeling their skills and passions into a product/outcome that is assessed by the IB.
Assessment in the MYP
Assessment is criterion-related, focusing on building skills, deep understanding, and reflection. Through formative feedback, summative tasks, and semester showcases, students demonstrate their learning in dynamic ways.
- Formative assessments provide ongoing feedback to guide learning.
- Summative assessments at the end of each unit measure achievement against IB criteria.
- Unit Showcases & Semester Assessments allow students to present work, demonstrate proficiency, and prepare for future challenges.
Prepare for the Final Ascent
The MYP builds the critical thinking and independent research skills essential for success in the academically rigorous Diploma Programme.
